Admissions

When do I apply for a school place?

You must apply for a primary school place one year before your child can start school. Applications open in September and close on 15 January, every year. You will need to apply when your child is three or has just turned four.

Applying for a place at Rivermead Primary School

For a place at our school, you will need to apply through Wokingham Council online portal where you’ll need to register first. You may need to supply proof of your address to prove that you’ll live in the area before the start of the next school term.

For the 2024-2025 academic year, the Wokingham Council’s admission policy will govern our admissions. Therefore, visit the Wokingham’s Council website to apply for a place.

You can see the Wokingham Council’s admission arrangements 2024-2025 here.

We are a two-form entry school and therefore we admit up to 60 children into Reception year. When full, we have 420 pupils on roll. Where there are fewer applicants than places available, all applicants will be admitted.

2025- 2026 Admission Policy

Following a public consultation, from the 2025-2026 academic year we will adopt our own admission policy, governed by the Bellevue Place Education Trust (BPET), of which we are part of.

Appeals

Parents who are not offered a place for their child have the right to appeal to an independent appeal panel. Parents wishing to appeal, should read the guide on how to appeal on the Wokingham Council’s website.

The appeal claim should be sent to: Clerk to the Appeals Panel, Wokingham Borough Council, Shute End, Wokingham, Berkshire, RG40 1WH, within 20 school days of the date of the letter confirming the decision not to offer a place.
